DRINKING WATER

NSF/ANSI 61 Listing for Drinking Water

IAPMO R&T lists QuakeWrap® fabrics U18C, U20C, U27C, U41C, B20C, U27G and B26G, saturated with QuakeBond™ 300SR, to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61-2023 under file N-11990. The listing covers tank coatings and StifPipe® on new pipes for cold water. The listing on file is current as of May 12, 2026, and the IAPMO R&T directory showed it as active on October 20, 2026.

The listing calls for a 72-hour cure at ambient temperature after the last layer, a 1-hour flush at 10 gallons per minute before use, and a maximum total dry film thickness of 90 mils. It accepts immediate return to service in pipe 6 in. and larger and tanks of 3,000 gallons and larger. [Confirm with QuakeWrap or IAPMO R&T which minimum sizes apply: ER-828 says 8 inches (152 mm), older pipemedic.com pages say 8 in., and the May 2026 listing's tank line still reads 3,000 gallons or less]

IAPMO UES ER-828 separately recognizes 300SR over carbon fabrics B20C, U20C, U27C and U41C for potable water contact under the Uniform Plumbing Code and International Plumbing Code, based on NSF 61 Section 5 testing.

CODE EVALUATION

IAPMO UES ER-828, AC125 and AC178

ER-828 recognizes QuakeWrap® carbon fabrics B20C, U20C, U27C and U41C and glass fabrics B26G and U27G with 300SR for strengthening columns, beams, slabs and walls. Design follows IBC Chapter 19 (ACI 318) and the QuakeWrap Design Manual. The FRP is not relied on for compression, needs 72 hours at 70°F before loading, and requires special inspection per AC178. Test data follow AC125. Fire-resistance-rated construction is outside its scope.

Listed, Evaluated or Tested: What Each Means

These documents carry different weight with a building official or owner. Specify to the one your project needs.

  • Listed

A certification body, here IAPMO R&T, lists the product to a standard such as NSF/ANSI 61 and audits production. Check the directory for current status.

  • Evaluated

An evaluation service, here IAPMO UES, reviews test data against acceptance criteria and confirms code compliance for the uses and limits in the report.

  • Tested

A lab or agency study reports results for the specimens tested. It supports design decisions but is not a product approval.

Test and Approval Questions

Is QuakeWrap® FRP listed for drinking water?

Yes. QuakeWrap® fabrics with QuakeBond™ 300SR are listed by IAPMO R&T to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61-2023 under file N-11990. The IAPMO R&T directory showed the listing as active on October 20, 2026. Check the directory again before you specify.

Is IAPMO UES ER-828 current?

Yes, as of October 21, 2026. The IAPMO UES directory lists ER-828 as valid and active. The current revision is dated December 23, 2025 and is valid through October 31, 2026. [Confirm renewal: check that IAPMO UES has reissued ER-828 after October 31, 2026]

Does QuakeWrap® have an ICC-ES report?

QuakeWrap's legacy site listed ICC-ES ESR-3605, issued February 2021. It is not in the ICC-ES report directory as of October 20, 2026, so it should not be cited as a current report. The current code evaluation is IAPMO UES ER-828, based on test data per acceptance criterion AC125.

What did the Army Corps of Engineers test?

The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center's PIER program researched and tested commercial pile jackets for rapid port repair, chose one technology and packaged it in modular kits that fit on C-17 aircraft. QuakeWrap's PileMedic® user manual was prepared for the Corps. The Army's public documents do not name the selected product. [Confirm with QuakeWrap: supply a USACE or ERDC document that names PileMedic®]

Do test results mean the product is certified?

No. A test report shows how the specimens performed. A listing or evaluation report is a separate approval with its own scope and dates. This page labels each one.

Can I get a report that isn't linked here?

Yes. The GTI and PERTAMINA pipe reports are now linked above. For tests without a posted report, such as the TRI deflection test and the University of Arizona StifPipe® tests, ask and we will send what is on file with your specification package.
