HOW IT WORKS

How We Support the Engineer of Record

  1. Share Your Project

Tell us about the structure, its condition and the site through the consultation form.

  2. System Recommendation

Our team recommends the QuakeWrap® product that fits the structure and the repair goal.

  3. Specifications & Details

Data sheets, guide specifications, typical design details and test reports for your engineer of record, who completes the design.

  4. Materials & Installation

QuakeWrap® supplies the materials, with installation instructions and training videos for your contractor.

Is carbon FRP stronger than steel?

In tension, yes. Once cured, carbon FRP reaches two to three times the tensile strength of steel, at a fraction of the weight.

How does FRP strengthen a concrete beam?

FRP bonded to the tension face adds flexural capacity, working together with the existing reinforcing steel. FRP bonded to the sides of the beam, with its fibers parallel to the stirrups, adds shear capacity. Most design guidelines limit the FRP strain allowed for shear.

Does FRP add axial capacity to a column?

Not directly. FRP fibers buckle at low compressive loads, so most design guidelines do not count FRP toward axial load. Wrapping a concrete column confines it, which raises both its strength and its failure strain, and that increases the member's axial capacity.

Who has tested QuakeWrap® systems?

QuakeWrap® systems have been tested by agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Caltrans and Texas DOT. Current listings are NSF/ANSI/CAN 61-2023 through IAPMO R&T (file N-11990) and IAPMO UES Evaluation Report ER-828, valid through October 31, 2026. Both directories showed them as active on October 20, 2026. The older ICC-ES ESR-3605 is no longer in the ICC-ES directory.

Who is responsible for the design?

Your engineer of record. Our team supports that engineer: we recommend the right QuakeWrap® system and provide product data sheets, guide specifications, sample design details and test reports.

Can you provide specifications and design details for our engineer?

Yes. Our team will recommend the right QuakeWrap® system and provide product data sheets, specifications and sample design details for your engineer of record.
