Spacers used for stand-off distance and placement of rebars in repair of piles and columns

Spacers

1. Define Annular Space & Support Reinforcement

PileMedic® spacers precisely define the annular space between the existing pile and the outer laminate, ensuring a uniform and controlled gap for optimal grout placement. This accuracy improves structural performance while minimizing unnecessary grout volume and added dead load.

In addition, the spacers are engineered to securely position reinforcing bars within the annular space, simplifying installation and ensuring proper alignment of the reinforcement cage:

  • 2-inch and 3-inch spacers accommodate #4 or #6 rebars
  • 4-inch spacers accommodate #4 or #7 rebars (adjust if needed)

This integrated functionality eliminates the need for separate rebar supports and streamlines the installation process.

2. Ensure Alignment & Installation Efficiency

Spacers are installed at regular intervals along the height of the pile using the supplied nylon banding system, holding them firmly in place during installation. This ensures the PileMedic® laminate remains properly centered and maintains a consistent cylindrical shape as it is wrapped and lowered into position.

The result is:

  • A uniform, concentric repair system
  • Improved structural confinement and load transfer
  • Faster, more efficient installation in the field

By combining precise spacing with secure positioning, PileMedic® spacers play a critical role in delivering a high-quality, durable repair.
